Product Development
Next-Generation Electro-Optic Material Platform
Lightwave Logic, Inc. produces the highest performance, highest stability electro-optic molecular structures in the industry. The market opportunities for these new materials are expected to be similarly revolutionary. Near the close of 2006, Lightwave demonstrated the efficiency and stability of its next - generation material platform. One of our next generation molecules was independently verified to be approximately 700% better than competitive molecular designs. Subsequently thermal stability was demonstrated in our core material base of approximately 350 degrees C, well above the 300 degrees C necessary for vertical integration into semiconductor manufacturing processes.

Building Products out of Plastic
On its own, an electro-optic plastic is little more a thin cellophane like film. The first step in making products is to form these films into waveguides. Lightwave has teamed up with the industry leader in efficient waveguide fabrication, Photon-X. Together, our two companies are engaged in product development with other parties to create high performance computer and telecom systems targeted initially at defense, intelligence and security markets.
Materials: Plastic Advantage
The advantage of electro-optic plastics (polymers) lies in their economy and versatility.
"Waveguides" are channels which conduct light in the same way that copper wire conducts electricity. Polymer waveguides such as this one (below) are created through advanced lithography, an offshoot of the same technology used to print books and newspapers.
